On Saturday the 24 of February the EPP Core Group gathered in London, or more precisely Heathrow Airport. The choice of location made it as easy as possible for the participants to arrive.
- Some of the topics discussed at the core group meeting were the following:
We decided to try a new format for the SUP framework. This means from level 3 we will divide SUP into SUP level 3 surf, SUP level 3 white water, and SUP level 3 touring. At the upcoming Benchmark in Finland, we will try out and evaluate SUP level 3 white water. A part of the benchmark will also be regarding looking into the framework. In the future, we will look into if we need other divisions. - British Canoeing presented an analysis of the data collected from 7 countries within the EPP federation.
The survey was focused on clubs, assessors, gender, and EPP certifications from 01/01/2022 to 31/01/2022.
From the 7 federations that completed the survey 43,005 EPP certificates were issued
9.2% of EPP certifications were for competitive disciplines.
Touring Kayak certifications came out as the highest at 9676, with Sea Kayak at 9237 in second. Third was White Water at 9177 certifications.
Very little data is captured on gender to provide any comparative analysis.
Although limited insight into age ranges was gained, data did show:
1) 57-64% of competitive discipline certifications were made to those under 16
2) Sea Kayak, Touring Kayak, SUP, and Ocean Racing certifications were mainly made for those over 41 - Acknowledged levels: Denmark and Sweden got some new levels acknowledged.
- Once again we had Poland as guests. This time we welcomed Marcin Madzia. We are looking forward to a bright collaboration in the future.
- We are looking forward to the upcoming benchmark in Finland in September.
Kind regards
